Inter Miami have appointed Cristian “Kily” González as their new head coach, replacing Guillermo Hoyos after a run of five league matches without a victory. Despite sitting second in the MLS Eastern Conference, ten points behind Nashville and three ahead of Chicago, the club opted for a change to revive momentum. Hoyos, a close friend of Lionel Messi, had taken charge in April following Javier Mascherano’s surprise resignation and guided Miami to their first league title. González arrives as another Argentine connection, having played for Rosario Central, Boca Juniors, San Lorenzo, Valencia and Inter, winning multiple trophies in Italy.

He also shared the pitch with Messi during the early years of the forward’s international career. For González, this marks his first coaching role outside Argentina after spells with Rosario Central, Unión de Santa Fe and Platense. The agreement is complete, and Miami now await the arrival of their new manager to begin a new chapter.
