Juventus displayed interest in signing Giacomo Bonaventura of Fiorentina during the January transfer window. Not unexpectedly, though, La Viola had no intention of breaking up with him. Although Bonaventura was 34 years old and knew his chances of playing for a major league team were slim, he was happy to accept Juventus' offer to sign him. But given that he would be a free agent next summer, Fiorentina hesitated to lose a vital player in January.
A one-year automatic extension is included in Bonaventura's current contract, which Fiorentina may elect to execute. Calciomercato claims that Juventus is still interested in Bonaventura and that the Bianconeri may renew talks with the player in the summer. For the upcoming campaign, Juventus is eager to assemble a team with a solid mix of skill and experience, and Bonaventura is seen to be among the best-experienced players in Serie A right now.
