Manchester United held back by Bournemouth

Manchester United put on another dismal display on Saturday but they were able to avoid loss with a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on the south coast. Andoni Iraola's side ripped the Reds apart at Old Trafford in December and nearly did the same in the reverse game, but United's wide open style allowed them to salvage something.

Bruno Fernandes, who scored twice, rescued United by converting a penalty in the 65th minute to tie the game. Earlier, Dominic Solanke scored in the 16th minute and Justin Kluivert 20 minutes later had put the hosts ahead twice. Since, Newcastle United only required a goal difference of 0 to beat the Reds when they were equal on points, and their win against Tottenham Hotspur moved them up to sixth place, while United slid to seventh.
