Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay has been given the green light to return to action after completing his recovery from a procedure carried out to treat a mild and benign heart arrhythmia. The Scotland international underwent a planned ablation operation at Manchester’s Spire Hospital in September and has since been monitored through additional medical assessments.
The latest examinations confirmed that the 29-year-old is fit to resume full sporting activity. McTominay has already rejoined team training after spending a period working separately from the main squad and is now available for selection by head coach Massimiliano Allegri.
The former Manchester United player has not featured since August 30, missing key fixtures including Napoli’s Serie A defeat against Inter and their Champions League loss to Arsenal.
His return comes as a welcome boost for Napoli ahead of Saturday’s league meeting with Frosinone at home.
