Pochettino extends USA tenure through 2030 World Cup

Mauricio Pochettino will remain in charge of the United States through the 2030 World Cup after signing a new long‑term contract, U.S. Soccer announced on Monday. The 54‑year‑old, appointed in 2024, had initially been contracted only until 2026, but his successful leadership at this summer’s tournament convinced the federation to secure his future.

Under Pochettino, the USMNT topped their group ahead of Australia, Paraguay and Turkey, earning a record six points before defeating Bosnia in the last 32. Their run ended with a 4‑1 loss to Belgium, yet the federation praised the team’s progress and the momentum generated across the country. CEO JT Batson highlighted the staff’s belief in the long‑term project, while Pochettino said the passion shown by fans strengthened his commitment.

With experience at Southampton, Tottenham, PSG and Chelsea, Pochettino now aims to elevate the national team further as preparations begin for the next cycle.
