Real Sociedad held to a goalless draw at Alaves

Real Sociedad missed its chance to go back to the top of La Liga as they could not defeat 10 men Alaves when Rodrigo Battaglia was sent off the field. The draw helped Atletico Madrid stay at the top of the standings for time being with a one-point lead. Alaves defended well throughout the 90 minutes with Fernando Pacheco helping their cause. Alexander Isak was denied a goal twice as both the goalkeepers were kept on their toes.

Villarreal and Elche also ended in a goalless draw but Villarreal maintained its third position, while Real Betis recovered from its three back to back defeats to win by 2-0 against Osasuna, Borja Iglesias and Juan Miranda helped Betis get back to winning ways. Granada’s drew up with the fifth team of the season in La Liga as they managed to make a comeback at the last minute to post 3-3 against Huesca, Jorge Molina and German Sanchez helped their feat.
