Undav’s late double sends Germany through

Germany booked their place in the World Cup knockout stage with a tense 2-1 comeback win over Ivory Coast, overturning a first‑half deficit thanks to a decisive brace from substitute Deniz Undav. After a bright German start, Yahia Fofana kept the favourites at bay with a superb early save, and the Elephants struck first when Franck Kessie smashed home following a chaotic move on the half‑hour mark.

Germany pushed for a response before the break, but Fofana again denied Florian Wirtz. Ivory Coast nearly doubled their lead early in the second half, only for Oulai to waste a golden chance on the counter. Julian Nagelsmann reacted with bold changes, introducing Undav, who levelled from an Amiri cross in the 68th minute. Deep into stoppage time, Undav struck again, spinning sharply to fire past Fofana and seal qualification. Germany now chase top spot, while Ivory Coast face a decisive clash with Curacao.
