Oliver Dingley clinched a spot at the Tokyo Olympics

Ireland’s Oliver Dingley, the Rio 2016 finalist qualified for the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games on Wednesday at FINA Diving World Cup. He secured a 15th place finish and needed to be within the top 18 in the 3m springboard to earn his automatic qualification. This would be his second Olympic games, He is a national record holder and scored 399.75 points in the preliminary round, he now moves to the semi-finals.

Tanya Watson also qualified for the Olympic games to become the first Irish female diver to do so on Tuesday by finishing the competition with a score of 295.50 points at 10m Platform semi-final. She improved her record from 271.85 points in the preliminary round and scored her highest in a FINA competition. Watson would also participate in LEN European Championship in Budapest.
