Team Ireland Divers makes history

Team Ireland selected two divers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games, one of which is a female diver making it the first time Ireland would be sending a female diver to the Olympic Games. Oliver Dingley and Tanya Watson would join the rest of the Ireland squad who would be traveling to the Japanese capital. Dingley would be participating in the second Olympic and would have debutant Watson as well with him. Watson would be competing in the Women's 10m Platform event. While the Rio 2016 finalist Dingley would be competing in the Men’s Springboard 3m event.

The 19-year-old Watson qualified for the event after ranking in the Top 18 of the FINA Diving World Cup in Tokyo and made history by being the first female diver to participate in the Olympics for Ireland. This would be the first time the team would be sending two divers to the Olympics as well.
