Bulls push for long-term deal with Josh Giddey after $80m offer
Josh Giddey, a restricted free agent, has yet to sign a long-term contract with the Chicago Bulls this offseason, but as training camp draws closer, their new offer might be a step in the right direction.
Although Chicago reportedly proposed a four-year, $80 million contract, Giddey started the summer looking for an annual salary in the $30 million level. At first, the Bulls had most of the leverage since few clubs could afford the 6-foot-8 point guard? However, the team seems more and more keen to sign him to a long-term contract as the season draws near and a deal is still pending. Giddey also saw a significant boost in production following the All-Star break, averaging 21.2 points, 10.7 rebounds, 9.3 assists and 1.5 steals in 34.3 minutes per game over his final 19 regular-season outings. During that stretch, he shot 50.0 percent from the field and 45.7 percent from downtown.
