Pelicans lock in Saddiq Bey with a three‑year, $55.5 million extension

Saddiq Bey and the New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to a three‑year, $55.5 million extension, a fully guaranteed deal confirmed to Shams Charania by agents James Dunleavy and Jordan Gertler. The contract includes a trade clause, underscoring the franchise’s confidence in Bey’s value both on the court and within the locker room. After missing the entire 2024/25 season due to a torn ACL suffered in Atlanta, Bey delivered an impressive rebound campaign in 2025/26, appearing in 72 games and averaging 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting efficiently across the board.

His performance convinced New Orleans to commit long‑term, with the extension beginning in 2027/28; he will earn a team‑friendly $6.44 million next season. Bey’s journey has taken him from Detroit to Atlanta, then Washington before landing in New Orleans, where Troy Weaver — now Pelicans GM — has renewed his faith in the forward. The deal marks a new chapter in Bey’s resurgence.
