One of the more busy NBA clubs this summer has been the Phoenix Suns, who improved their bench and acquired All-Star guard Bradley Beal. Phoenix is apparently still looking into its trade alternatives even though the bulk of teams have stopped playing for the season for the summer. Phoenix is expected to have a severe point guard shortage by the beginning of August. Although Beal is expected to start, he is a natural two. The best choices to play point guard next season are Saben Lee and Devin Booker, who are both in front of him.
Thus the Suns want to trade for point guard T.J. McConnell from the Indiana Pacers. Phoenix is really interested in McConnell since it needs a real point guard, but a trade isn't likely because the veteran wants to stay with Indiana. McConnell, who is 31 years old, joined Indiana in 2019 and even re-signed with the organization and received a $35 million, four-year contract in 2021.
