Pistons clinch 2026 playoff berth

Detroit has officially punched its ticket to the 2026 NBA playoffs, becoming the Eastern Conference’s first team to secure a berth after a decisive win over the Golden State Warriors on Friday. The victory lifted the Pistons to 51–19, giving them a four‑game cushion over Boston for the top seed in the East. With Thunder and Spurs already qualified in the West earlier this week, Detroit now joins the league’s elite group guaranteed to compete in the postseason. 

Regardless of how the remaining regular‑season games unfold, the Pistons cannot fall below sixth place, ensuring their playoff status. Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff praised his squad’s unity afterward, calling them “one of the most connected teams” he has ever coached and emphasizing the unique spirit they bring each night. 

Meanwhile, the Eastern Conference field is essentially set: Charlotte holds the tenth spot with a comfortable 7.7‑win edge over Milwaukee, leaving little suspense as the final stretch approaches.
