The Boston Celtics have officially waived guard Lonnie Walker IV, as reported by Shams Charania. Despite an impressive preseason, Walker was unable to secure a spot on the Celtics' 15-man roster. Signed to an Exhibit 10 (E10) contract, Walker now has the option to accept a bonus and join the Celtics’ G-League affiliate, the Maine Celtics, or become a free agent to explore other opportunities.
Walker averaged 7.3 points per game during the preseason, but his contributions in significant minutes stood out. He excelled in two games, particularly against the Philadelphia 76ers, where he played 25 minutes, scoring 9 points on 4-of-7 shooting, along with 4 rebounds and 7 assists. Despite his efforts, limited playing time in other preseason games, including no points in 11 minutes across two games in Abu Dhabi, ultimately affected his chances of making the team.
