Warriors keep Green for one more year

The Golden State Warriors have chosen continuity, finalizing a one‑year, $27.7 million contract to retain Draymond Green, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The veteran forward had initially declined his previous deal to give the franchise financial flexibility in its pursuit of LeBron James. That plan collapsed when James opted to join the Philadelphia 76ers, prompting Golden State to reopen negotiations with Green, who accepted and will remain a central figure in the Bay.

Now 36, Green last earned an All‑Star selection four years ago but stayed reliable in 2025‑26, appearing in 68 games and averaging 27.5 minutes. His production dipped to 8.4 points, 5.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds, his lowest marks since 2013‑14, when he came off the bench. Last December, Green even volunteered to accept a reserve role if needed, though the coaching staff kept him in the starting lineup for every game he played.
