Warriors lock in Green for another year

Golden State Warriors have confirmed that Draymond Green will remain in the Bay Area on a renewed one‑year contract. As previously reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania, the deal is worth $27.7 million. Green had declined his $27.6 million player option to give the franchise more flexibility in its pursuit of LeBron James, but once the superstar chose to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State moved quickly to secure its veteran leader on nearly identical terms.

Selected 35th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft after four seasons at Michigan State, Green has become a defining figure in Warriors history. He has won four NBA titles, earned four All‑Star selections and claimed Defensive Player of the Year honors, forming a crucial partnership with Stephen Curry. In 2025‑26, the 36‑year‑old appeared in 68 games, averaging 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists. His defensive presence and playmaking will again anchor Golden State’s plans.
