David Hemp has been appointed head coach of Bangladesh’s women’s national team, replacing Sarwar Imran, whose tenure will conclude in October after serving since early 2025. The 55‑year‑old will begin a two‑year term when he links up with the squad in Brisbane for the upcoming ODI tour of Australia, with his contract running through September 2028. The role marks a return to the women’s setup for Hemp, who previously worked as batting coach during the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in Nepal earlier this year.
Hemp has been embedded in the BCB structure since May 2023, leading the High Performance programme and later serving as batting coach for the men’s national team in 2024. His résumé includes extensive experience in women’s cricket, notably as Pakistan’s head coach from 2020 to 2022 and in leadership roles with Victoria and the Melbourne Stars.
