India seal eighth Asia Cup with dominant final win

India clinched their record‑extending eighth Women’s Asia Cup title with a commanding all‑round display against Sri Lanka, completing an unbeaten run in the 2026 tournament. In a rematch of the 2024 Final, India posted 183/5 thanks to a blistering opening stand from Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana, who struck 68 and 59 respectively. Verma’s 24‑ball fifty, the fastest in Women’s T20 Asia Cup history, powered India to 98/0 at halfway before Sri Lanka finally broke through.

Despite a brief stumble late in the innings, India finished strongly through G Kamalini. Sri Lanka’s chase began positively but quickly faltered as India’s spinners took control. Deepti Sharma removed Chamari Athapaththu and Vishmi Gunarathne in the same over, triggering a collapse. Sree Charani added four wickets, while Verma and Prema Rawat chipped in.
