Arcane’s LoL takeover kicks off with new legend

With Arcane season two approaching, Riot Games is bringing the Arcane universe into its games, starting with the introduction of Ambessa Medarda as League of Legends’ newest champion. Fans of the show will recognize Ambessa from Arcane’s first season, and Riot has now translated her commanding presence into the game as a top-lane duelist. Specializing in one-on-one battles, Ambessa is ideal for players who thrive on cunning strategies and tactical isolation. Her Drakhound’s Step passive grants her a series of dashes, enabling quick strikes and repositioning after using her abilities. Her ultimate, the fearsome Public Execution, showcases her brutal nature as a Noxian warrior. 

Game designer Max Perlman shared insights at an Arcane-themed preview event, emphasizing how Ambessa’s gameplay was designed to feel deliberate and proactive. Her buffered dashes play a crucial role in her combat style, reflecting the visceral, intentional combat Riot aimed to capture in her design.
