Riot Games has purportedly agreed to send two teams from each of its premier domestic League of Legends competitions, including the LCS and the LEC, to the Esports World Cup event supported by Saudi Arabia. According to an internal Riot email obtained by Jacob Wolf of the Jacob Wolf Report, the developer is still ironing out the specifics of how League of Legends will be represented at the Esports World Cup, but it has granted permission for two teams each from the LCS, LEC, LPL, and LCK to participate.
The selection process for these teams remains unknown, as Riot has allegedly stated that it won't be directly involved in the team selection. Furthermore, Riot has reportedly urged its domestic leagues to refrain from hosting any events or matches during the first week of July 2024, creating space for the teams participating in the Esports World Cup.
