Quartararo retires in Hungary after rear‑end issues

Fabio Quartararo’s strong run of form came to a halt in Hungary, where the 2021 world champion failed to see the chequered flag after encountering a rear‑end issue that worsened as the race progressed. Starting 15th, the Frenchman climbed nine positions thanks partly to the opening‑lap chaos triggered by Jorge Martin, but his momentum quickly faded. Quartararo revealed he sensed trouble immediately: he was behind Jack Miller and in a promising spot, yet the rear felt wrong from the first laps. As the problem intensified, he lost ground, ran wide several times and even ended up in the gravel, collecting two Long Lap Penalties for shortcuts. With only a few laps remaining, he chose to retire while Yamaha began investigating the cause.

Alex Rins also endured a difficult afternoon. Starting 20th, he avoided the early incident and gained places mainly through others’ crashes, eventually finishing 13th after what he described as a long but slightly improved race.
