Accra Sports Stadium confirmed as venue for several 2027 AFCON qualifiers

The Accra Sports Stadium has been confirmed as the venue for several 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with Niger and Somalia set to play their designated home matches there. According to National Sports Authority Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, the stadium is currently the only facility in Ghana approved to host FIFA Category A fixtures, making it the automatic choice for upcoming international commitments. On 24 September, Ghana will face Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké while Niger meet Lesotho in Accra, prompting preparations after Niger formally notified the Ghana Football Association of their intent to play in the country.

Somalia will also use Accra as their home base, with both legs of their qualifiers against Ghana scheduled at the same venue. The arrangement underscores the need to maintain top‑level standards as Ghana continue their Group C campaign, marking Carlos Queiroz’s first matches since returning as Black Stars head coach.
