Kompany raises Bayern’s standards ahead of Cup final

Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany says he will wait until after next week’s German Cup final to fully assess the season, but believes his team have already established a higher standard for the future. Bayern secured the Bundesliga weeks ago and can claim their first domestic double in six years, having also reached the Champions League semi‑finals before a narrow 6‑5 aggregate loss to Paris Saint‑Germain. Kompany praised the squad’s development, consistency and emotional growth, stressing that next year’s task is to push the level even further.

His side have shattered the Bundesliga single‑season scoring record with 117 goals, surpassing a mark that had stood since 1971/72. Sporting director Max Eberl said Bayern remain focused on winning the Cup against Stuttgart on May 23, noting the club have not lifted the trophy in six years. Celebrations are planned for the weekend, including traditional beer showers and a public event in Munich’s central square.
