Sporting land Irankunda in €18m deal

Sporting CP have completed the signing of Australian international Nestory Irankunda, announcing the move on Saturday. The 20‑year‑old winger arrives from Watford for €15 million plus €3 million in add‑ons and has signed a contract through 2031, protected by an €80 million release clause. Irankunda impressed at the 2026 World Cup, scoring once in four matches, and last season made 42 Championship appearances with four goals and four assists.

At his presentation, Irankunda said he was “very happy and grateful” to join a club with such history, noting that conversations with Sporting’s hierarchy convinced him immediately. He described himself as powerful, fast and versatile across the attack, adding that he aims to win titles and make history in Lisbon. The forward also expressed excitement about a potential Champions League debut, calling it a childhood dream.
