World Cup final punishments: 10-match ban for Paredes, 7 for Molina

FIFA has issued significant sanctions after the disorder that followed the 2026 World Cup final, handing Leandro Paredes a ten‑match suspension and a ninety‑thousand‑dollar fine, the harshest penalty among those involved. Nahuel Molina received seven matches and the same financial punishment, while Thiago Almada was given one match and thirty thousand dollars. Roberto Ayala, part of Argentina’s coaching staff, was suspended for three matches, and Spain’s Gavi received a one‑match ban plus thirty thousand dollars. All suspensions will apply to upcoming international fixtures.

The Argentine Football Association was also fined three hundred twenty‑one thousand dollars for repeated crowd‑related violations throughout the tournament, including an order to play its next two home matches at fifty percent stadium capacity. FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee formally notified all parties on Friday, granting ten days to request the full written decisions, as outlined in article sixty‑one of the Disciplinary Code. The rulings close a turbulent chapter after Spain’s narrow victory over Argentina.
