South Africa defeated Nepal by one run

South Africa edged out Nepal by one run in a thrilling T20 World Cup Group D match on Saturday at Arnos Vale Stadium, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Heinrich Klaasen’s precise throw on the final ball ran out Gulsan Jha, clinching victory for the Proteas and crushing Nepal’s hopes of an upset.

Chasing South Africa’s modest 115-7, Nepal finished at 114-7. South Africa’s innings was stabilized by Reeza Hendricks, who top-scored with 43 off 49 balls, while Tristan Stubbs added a quick 27 not out off 18 balls. Despite Sandeep Lamichhane’s return, it was Kushal Bhurtel (4 for 19) and Dipendra Singh Airee (3 for 21) who shone with the ball. Bhurtel’s successive wickets of Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada ended the South African innings. This win cemented South Africa’s place in the Super Eight phase with a perfect group stage record.
