Glenn Maxwell makes himself unavailable for 2026 IPL

Glenn Maxwell, 37, will skip the upcoming IPL auction in Abu Dhabi on December 16. Previously, the cricketer joined Punjab Kings for $467,000 but disappointed with 48 runs and four wickets in seven matches before a finger injury.

On social media, Maxwell termed this a "big call" made with immense gratitude. Since 2012, the all-rounder accumulated 2,819 runs and 41 wickets in 141 matches, notably winning the 2013 title with Mumbai Indians. He credited the league for shaping him, praising the "unmatched" passion of fans. While Maxwell withdraws, stars like Cameron Green, Liam Livingstone, and Wanindu Hasaranga are among 45 players seeking top deals with a reserve of $222,620.

The IPL remains the world's richest tournament, boasting a business value estimated at $18.5 billion. Maxwell concluded by sincerely thanking supporters for all their years of love, stating that the memories and energy of India will truly stay with him forever.
