Kohli reaffirms 2027 World Cup ambition

Virat Kohli has reiterated his commitment to representing India at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, stressing that his preparation and mindset remain fully geared toward another global campaign. Speaking on the RCB podcast, the former captain dismissed any uncertainty about his intentions, noting that he would not continue training at such intensity without a clear desire to compete.

Kohli, already a four‑time World Cup participant and a member of India’s 2011 title‑winning squad, remains central to the ODI setup despite retiring from T20Is in 2024 and Test cricket in 2025. He has continued playing domestic one‑day cricket for Delhi and maintains exceptional ODI numbers, averaging 58.71 with a strike rate of 93.82. Kohli emphasised that his focus has shifted from chasing statistics to rediscovering pure enjoyment in the game. He described his preparation as honest and relentless, insisting he is ready to contribute wherever required for India.
