The Sydney Thunder beat the Melbourne Renegades at Canberra's Manuka Oval by an eight-wicket margin.
Will Sutherland's 41 off 22 balls kept the Renegades from scoring a terrible total after they won the toss and elected to bat. They finished with a score of 9-142. Warner (29) and Ollie Davies (0) dropped in back-to-back balls to leave the Thunder 2-57, falling short of the required 143. However, Matthew Gilkes' brilliant and unbeaten 74 sealed the Thunder's easy eight-wicket victory as they chased down the Renegades' 9-142 with nine balls remaining.
With the finals in sight, the Thunder have moved up to the fourth position on the BBL leaderboard, equal points behind the third-place Renegades.
