With no victories against any of its foreign rivals, North America's participation in the 2023 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational came to an early conclusion. The No. 1 seed, Cloud9, was eliminated from the competition in the lower bracket quarterfinals by Gen.G of Korea in a dominating 3-0 sweep. The longest game in the series was only 30 minutes. Despite the heartbreaking defeat, one C9 player maintained his composure and sought out counsel from his mid lane rival after the game.
Following the last match, C9's EMENES consulted Gen.G's Chovy for advise on what aspects of his game needed work and how to do it. While praising his own particular laning phase, Chovy retorted that he couldn't completely assess EMENES' capacity to adjust to advantages or disadvantages based on the MSI series. Chovy advised EMENES on how to make decisions in the majority of circumstances and how to view the game from the perspective of the entire squad.
