Even the LCK is struggling

Arnold Hur, CEO of the powerful esports organisation Gen.G, has today urged Riot Games to take a fresh look at the League of Legends esports economic model as the LCS walkout and ensuing season delay continue to ripple across the community.

Following Riot's decision to remove the requirement that LCS orgs field NA Challengers League rosters, the North American League has fallen into disarray over the past several weeks, prompting players to stage a walkout strike. The goal of Riot's rule modifications and the original approval of the move by all 10 LCS owners was to help the organisations' financial struggles, something more League teams have been experiencing in other leagues as well. Although Gen.G has dominated the LCK in sponsorship income over the last 36 months, Gen.G chairman Hur confessed that his organization's squad has never produced a profit.
