LEC viewership records massive drop in 2023

We finally have a winner—G2 Esports—after weeks and weeks of waiting impatiently to determine which League of Legends teams are deserving of the LEC crown. However, LEC hasn't been as profitable this year because viewership fell by 50% from 2022 and 2023. When compared to LEC Summer split 2022, the peak viewership for the LEC has decreased by 53%, according to statistics from Esports Charts as of July 31. The finals of the LEC attracted 732,573 views last year, while only 325,193 people watched the finals between G2 and Excel Esports on July 30 this year.

Additionally, the number of average LEC viewers decreased from 211,743 to 172,558, a decrease of 18.5 percent.  This year, the EMEA Championship underwent a significant format change that included going from two days a week to three, switching from best of three to regular split games.
