Following a 3-1 victory over MSI representatives Golden Guardians on Sunday, NRG will represent the LCS at Worlds this year. NRG's triumph represents their first top-three result in the LCS, as well as their first guaranteed spot in an international League of Legends competition. Following CLG's departure in April, many questioned if the remains of Counter Logic Gaming would be able to return under their new organisation. But Dhokla, Contractz, and Palafox, who have been teammates since the 2022 Spring Split, responded to the occasion, and after four seasons and three playoffs, they've finally translated form into an international spot.
Following the victory, Series MVP Contractz was extremely distraught on stage. He is finally returning to Worlds for the first time since his six-year stay with Cloud9. "Once you get a taste of Worlds competition and playing against the best players in the world, there's nothing better—you wouldn't want to be anywhere else," he explained.
