Barcelona suffered their second straight defeat

On Tuesday, Real Valladolid improved their chances of making it out of LaLiga with a crucial 3-1 victory over league champion Barcelona. The hosts improved to 17th place, moving only three points clear of the relegation zone, and were deserving of their victory.

Andreas Christensen, a defender for Barcelona, gave Valladolid the boot in the second minute when he headed into his own net. After Gonzalo Plata was fouled by Eric Garcia in the penalty area, Canadian striker Cyle Larin added the second goal from the spot, and the Ecuadorian winger added the third goal on the break. Robert Lewandowski, the leading scorer in LaLiga, gave the Catalans a late-game goal. Young playmaker Pablo Torre made his LaLiga debut for Barcelona and put up a strong effort, but his squad as a whole was sluggish and suffered a second straight loss.
