Cadiz ends 29-year winless run by upsetting Barcelona in La Liga

Los Blaugrana was looking at a comfortable fourth successive win but their overconfidence might have cost them the 2-1 defeat at the hand of the Yellow Submarine who ended their winless run against Barca for the first time after 1991.

The host opened their score within eight minutes when Alvaro Gimenez scored and the visitors were in for a laborious night when all their efforts for parity failed until an own goal by Pedro Alcala in the 57th minute helped them somewhat. Cadiz but had an iron-clad will to win and contained Barcelona well to score yet again with the help of Alvaro Negredo who pushed in the winning goal. Elsewhere Levante won by 3-0 against Getafe, Real Madrid was able to hold off Sevilla FC to win by 1-0 and Real Valladolid surrendered to Atletico Madrid by 2-0.
