Foster joins Houston Dynamo on loan, aiming for revival in MLS

South Africa forward Lyle Foster marked his 26th birthday by completing a loan move to Houston Dynamo, where he will stay until June 2027 after slipping out of favour at Burnley. He becomes the latest South African in MLS, joining Mbekezeli Mbokazi, Puso Dithejane, Bongokuhle Hlongwane and Tylon Smith. Houston president Pat Onstad praised Foster’s mobility, work rate and ability to stretch defences, noting that his Premier League and international experience will strengthen the squad.

Foster made 89 league appearances for Burnley, scoring eleven goals, often deployed in wide roles. He netted three goals and two assists in 26 Premier League matches last season, though he could not prevent relegation. Houston sit second in the Western Conference with a club‑record 39 points from 22 games. Foster, who debuted at sixteen for Orlando Pirates before spells at Monaco, Vitória Guimarães and Westerlo, hopes to revive his form after a disappointing World Cup campaign.
