Kane brace leads Bayern’s comeback in DFB‑Pokal opener

Harry Kane struck twice as Bayern Munich overturned an early setback to beat second‑tier Osnabrück 4‑1 in their German Cup opener. The hosts stunned the holders after just five minutes, when Robin Meissner produced a superb dipping effort from distance. Bayern, eliminated in the first round only once since 1994, responded quickly as Kane smashed in a rebound to level.

Tom Bischof added another six minutes later, finishing in similar fashion to put Bayern firmly in control. Michael Olise extended the lead midway through the second half, before Kane converted a late penalty to seal the victory.

Kane, who joined Bayern from Tottenham in 2023, now boasts an extraordinary 148 goals in 150 appearances across all competitions. He praised the team’s composure in a challenging away atmosphere, saying they “had to stay calm” after Osnabrück’s early strike.

Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund eased past fifth‑division HEBC with a 5‑0 win.
