Arsenal has signed Jurrien Timber to their Champions League roster ahead of their last-16 match against Porto later this month. The 22-year-old defender joined Arsenal from Ajax for a reputed £38 million last summer, signing a long-term contract until June 2028. However, the highly touted Dutchman suffered an ACL injury on his Premier League debut in August of last year and has since spent a significant amount of time in rehabilitation after surgery.
Manager Mikel Arteta revealed last month that Timber still needs time to recuperate from his injury before returning to training. However, Arsenal has hinted that Timber might return before the season ends since they have put the defender on their Champions League roster for the second part of the season. Arsenal will travel to Lisbon to face Porto for the first leg of their last-16 contest on February 21, before hosting the Portuguese club at the Emirates Stadium for the second match on March 12th.
