Liverpool regained their place at the top of the table and did their job at Anfield after wins for City and Arsenal against Aston Villa and Luton Town respectively. The Reds claimed a hard-fought victory over relegation-threatened Sheffield United and much of the credit went to Mac Allister.
The Argentina international was a headache for the Blades' defence and midfield, who saw their equaliser cancelled out by a 76th-minute thunderbolt from the former Brighton man to restore the home side's lead, who secured victory in stoppage time through Cody Gakpo's header.
Jurgen Klopp was quick to praise the Argentine midfielder after the game and stressed the importance of Mac Allister choosing Liverpool as his next destination after the Seagulls, as other Premier League giants were interested in him.
"He is a super important player for us, a wonderful boy and really happy for Liverpool that we got him," told Klopp.
