TalkSPORT suspects that Manchester City won't stop Kalvin Phillips from taking a loan to join Newcastle. This season, Phillips has only played 89 minutes in the Premier League, and the champions are open to bids for the England star. Although they lack the money to make a long-term deal, Newcastle is eager to get Phillips to replace the suspended Sandro Tonali.
As previously reported by talkSPORT, Juventus and the Citizens have begun negotiations on a January deal for the England international. However, in a surprising development for the Phillips narrative, the former Leeds player may now plan to stay in the Premier League. Following his transfer to the Etihad in a deal for up to £45 million, Phillips has not been able to establish himself as a regular under Pep Guardiola. He played in just 12 Premier League games the previous season and has only made four appearances so far this season, his most recent being on November 4.
