Morocco insist Casablanca will host 2030 World Cup final, FIFA disagrees

Morocco have publicly asserted that the 2030 World Cup final will be played in Casablanca, with Royal Moroccan Football Federation president Fouzi Lekjaa declaring that the Grand Stade Hassan II “will have the honour” of hosting the showpiece. Speaking during a PAM election rally in Bouznika, Lekjaa linked the stadium’s construction in Benslimane province to broader political ambitions, drawing applause as he positioned the venue as Morocco’s flagship project.

The tournament will be co‑hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco, with Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay staging opening matches to mark the centenary of the 1930 World Cup. FIFA, however, have not yet announced host venues, meaning the final remains officially unassigned. Lekjaa also expressed hope for a Morocco‑France final as “revenge” for the 2026 quarter‑final defeat. The Grand Stade Hassan II, set to open in late 2027 with a 115,000‑seat capacity, is expected to rival Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu for hosting rights.
