PSV captain Mauro Junior has received his first senior Brazil call‑up, earning a long‑awaited breakthrough as Carlo Ancelotti named a revamped 26‑man squad for upcoming friendlies against Australia and India. The 27‑year‑old, who last represented Brazil at Under‑23 level in 2020, had featured across multiple youth categories but never reached the senior team. Despite exploring options to boost his visibility, Mauro remained at PSV, became captain during Jerdy Schouten’s long absence, and has helped the Eredivisie champions start the season strongly, including a 3‑1 win over Ajax.
