Nice reclaims first place in France

Nice opened the scoring with a close-range strike shortly before halftime, and the southern French club returned to the top of the Ligue 1 standings with a 2-0 victory against Rennes. Nice's previous five goals have all come from the Ivory Coast international, Jeremie Boga shined once again for Nice.

Rennes goalie Steve Mandanda was responsible for the hosts' second goal. The former France international shot-stopper pulled the ball back into his net after Sofiane Diop's 86th-minute drive hit the crossbar. Nice, the league's only undefeated team, leads Paris Saint-Germain by one point. Lyon players, on the other hand, were unable to shake off their dismal form. They averted a sixth defeat in ten games by drawing 1-1 at home with fellow strugglers Metz. Ablie Jallow scored with just 14 minutes remaining before Skelly Alvero leveled for the hosts seven minutes later.
