Speaking at his official presentation, Marquez noted that he now has “another opportunity” to achieve from the bench what he could not on the pitch.

The former Barcelona defender, who won multiple LaLiga titles and two Champions League crowns, stressed continuity rather than revolution, highlighting the foundations laid by outgoing coach Javier Aguirre. Marquez worked on Aguirre’s staff during the most recent World Cup, where Mexico ended a forty‑year wait for a knockout win by beating Ecuador in the last 32.
