Romário is back. He signed up to play for the club... which he presides over

At 58 years old, and 15 years after putting an end to his career as a professional football player, the 'eternal' Romário is back to play for 'his' América, the club of which he has been president since the beginning of the present year 2024.

According to the Brazilian portal Globoesporte, the former striker has signed up for the squad that is preparing to give the 'starting shot' in participating in the new season of Série A2 of the Campeonato Carioca, starting on May 18th, and which has a total of 11 other teams.

The former Brazilian international will even earn a salary, albeit minimal, as required by the competition regulations. However, the publication emphasizes, it will return it to the club's coffers, in the form of a donation.
