Spain hand Luis de la Fuente a long‑term deal through 2032

Spain have officially extended Luis de la Fuente’s contract until 2032, a move approved by the Royal Spanish Football Federation just weeks after the nation’s World Cup victory over Argentina. De la Fuente, appointed in December 2022, will now lead Spain through the 2030 World Cup—co‑hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco—and Euro 2032, continuing a cycle built on stability and long‑term planning.

RFEF president Rafael Louzan praised the coach’s leadership and record, calling him the most decorated manager in Spain’s history. Under his guidance, Spain have enjoyed a golden period, winning the 2023 Nations League, Euro 2024 and the 2026 World Cup, along with a runners‑up finish in the 2025 Nations League.

De la Fuente’s rise began in 2013, when he answered a federation advert seeking a youth coach. Thirteen years later, the former Alaves manager has become the architect of Spain’s modern success, earning a historic long‑term commitment.
