Tottenham settling for a 1-1 draw at West Ham

At London Stadium, Brennan Johnson had given fifth-place Spurs the perfect start, but Kurt Zouma's equalizer in the 19th minute undid that. If Michail Antonio had been more merciless with a second-half opportunity, West Ham may have even won.

After sixty minutes, the attacker broke through on goal, but with just Guglielmo Vicario to beat, he shot directly at the Spurs goalie. Spurs understood that a significant victory would have allowed them to pass Villa in fourth position on goal differential. And that appeared to be possible when the visitors jumped out to an early lead thanks to a Timo Werner run past Vladimir Coufal that set up Johnson for a close-range goal. However, when an unmarked Zouma turned in Jarrod Bowen's corner, boss Ange Postecoglou became furious. With the same amount of games played, Tottenham now trails Villa by two points as a result of the outcome.
