Yuta Nakayama of Japan is out of the World Cup due to an Achilles injury

Only in the event of a significant illness or injury up to 24 hours before the start of his team's first match may a player on the World Cup final list be changed. Nakayama, who was selected for Japan's 26-man squad on Tuesday, injured his Achilles tendon late in the opening period of his team's 2-0 loss to Sunderland at home on Wednesday. Surgery will be performed on the 25-year-old. 

The competition starts on November 20. According to remarks made by Huddersfield coach Mark Fotheringham and posted on the club's official website, "We are all devastated that Yuta won't be able to join up with Japan for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which is an experience he had absolutely earned." After leaving Zwolle of the Netherlands, Nakayama is currently playing his debut season in England.
