The 37-year-old former point guard for the Rockets, Jeremy Lin, announced on his personal Instagram account that he is retiring and leaving the game of basketball. The Palo Alto native played in the NBA for nine years, from 2010 to 2019, averaging 11.6 points and 4.3 assists despite not being selected in the 2010 NBA draft. His best NBA season was with the New York Knicks in 2011–12, when he scored a career-high 38 points against the Los Angeles Lakers and helped the team win seven straight games after being promoted to the starting lineup. He earned the nickname "Linsanity" after being the first NBA player to open five straight games with at least 20 points and seven assists.
The Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Charlotte Hornets, Brooklyn Nets, Atlanta Hawks, and Toronto Raptors were among Lin's other NBA teams, where he won the 2019 NBA title.
