Ben Simmons weighs his NBA future amid Knicks interest

Ben Simmons, a 29-year-old former No. 1 overall pick, continues to be one of the most interesting players on the 2025 NBA free-agent market. The New York Knicks and another team have expressed interest in Simmons, but the three-time All-Star is unsure if he wants to play in the NBA in 2025–2026, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post.

Ben Simmons’ NBA journey has been turbulent. Drafted first overall by the 76ers in 2016, he won Rookie of the Year in 2018 and earned three straight All-Star nods from 2019 to 2021, averaging 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 7.6 assists at his peak, along with two All-Defensive honors and an All-NBA selection. But injuries and inconsistency stalled his rise. He missed 2021-22 due to a holdout and back surgery, while his infamous decision to pass up a dunk in Game 7 of the 2021 playoffs fractured his confidence and relationship with Philadelphia, leading to a trade request.
